I found a local guy selling a Trek 970 for $150. He said it's in pretty good condition save for a couple scratches here and there. Supposedly it has old XTR and other high-end components on it.
Price seems a bit high, but I think he is pretty firm on it.
From what I've read, the 970 rides pretty well (lugged steel) and is fairly light for its time. Any of you have opinions on the 970?

If the bike is rideable and has old XTR on it, then it's worth the $150. If you don't want it, PM me the guys info, I'll buy it.

Sounds like a reasonable deal if it's ready to ride with only a little cleanup and lube. If it truly has fully XTR, it's worth quite a bit parted out, actually. Most important question: What do you want to do with it?
Edit: Funny, I just saw your MTBR post. The bike should suit your needs well, again assuming it's in good shape and doesn't need a lot of parts to reliably work. I had the green/yellow (1987) MB-2 you were looking for. I actually sold it here in Nashville somewhere around two years ago. I bought the frame, fork, bar, shifters and brakes, then found everything else to make it almost 100% original. I rode it just a bit, then decided I had too many bikes...it was a cool one!
