If my bike is up and running by then i'll be there. I would like to get at least one preride in before the race but it's not looking real good for the home team. Reed what is up with the new finish? I don't even know how the race will run at all.

For those of you that are not sure of racing, I think the TT on Saturday is a great way to start. It is short (less than 4 miles), flat, pretty easy and cheaper than the XC on Sunday. I would do it but I am working.

Charlie and I will be doing the TT race - I need a sweeper for Charlie (Bikerchickie?)

I'll be doing the basackwards on Sunday - probably - the kids will be there to cheer me on. Wife is working. Lady Swimmer, Kim, or Bikerchickie? would you like some company?

Steve

PS - Lefty Scott, T-Wolf, E-brown, etc - you guys need to do the TT race - It's a blast - very fast course - very smooth single track.

After riding Chickasaw backwards yesterday for the first time in about a year - I had a blast!! I can't wait for the race this weekend!

I'm also gonna try my first official Time Trial race this weekend on Saturday. I've always been worried about doing those the day before the big race, but since it's only 3 miles I think it'll be a blast and hopefully we'll be able to earn a few extra TBRA points if we get some Team NMB members out there!!

I'm super excited about racing again this weekend! It's been a while since the last race, and I've been getting a littly antsy!!

See everyone out there! :thumb:

Count me in now. Reed was kind enough to let me borrow the Surly that i sold him a couple of months ago.

Reed I can't thank you enough. Sorry i'll have to be kicking your butt with your own bike now.:fencing:

I've said this before in another discussion but it bears repeating. No less than 10 people contacted me either by pm, email and even phone to offer up their bike for me to ride. Jim even let me ride his heckler on the LBL ride yesterday. Thanks very much.:cry2:

Mike and I went down to CT on Monday. Trail was great. That was my first time riding it backwards. Couple tricky spots, but I think it will be ok.

Good luck to everyone doing the TT. Mike and I will be working with all the folks down at the CMA festival..........hot!

See everyone on Sunday.

Aaron,

We can suffer together in sport...that is unless I get my new SS finished before the race. If so, I'll ride it's maiden voyage in the SS class. Either way I expect it to be interesting.

You'll be fine! The first half of the course involves all of the work, after that it's just fun, flowing, and fast. The TT course is flat and fast. I'd recommend both.

Thanks,

More plush and much more beefy. also packing about 5-6 lbs more. It was pretty fun to ride and he had one of those gravity dropper seatposts which made descending that much better. If i were riding solo i would say that it climbs well too but when you are chasing guys like Mike, Jeff, and Jim(all bad *** single speeders) up hills it can be painful. I would love to have one.

Hey Jerry,

We're going to do a leisurely lap of the TT course and then do the TT. This should be your first race. It's an awesome course - very fast - should only take 15 to 20 minutes total.

Have you ever done Chickasaw? If you haven't, You'll be in for some surprises. It has some very fast sections and sudden hills. The course backwards is fun but odd your first time. The first couple of hills will have some people will be walking (including me). These aren't long hills, just very steep and sudden. There is also the "dismount recommended" hill in the middle of the Trail of Tears. This is normally a blast downhill - this race it will be a walk the bike uphill.

I'm sure there will be plenty of prerunners.

Last night was the first night with hot and humid conditions. It only got down to 77 degrees

And, the chance of rain this evening is very high - look at the radar

http://www.intellicast.com/National/Radar/Current.aspx?animate=true&enlarge=true

The last time I rode Chick, it was a dust bowl. The rain will definately help - but Saturday's TT might be a little muddy.

Also some good news, the forcast high temps are mid-80's for both days now, down from mid-90's earlier in the week. :hi:

Looking forward to another great NMB turnout :first: :second: :third:

Great Time Trial race out there today everyone!! There were a few mechanical problems for TeamNMB.com, but overall things were great!!

Great Job CCC for keeping everything smooth moving and fun!!

On a personal level - Adam(Meanjoe) beat me by 6 endless seconds today and took home the 3rd place prize!!! Great job Adam!!

I'm really beat, and as much as I'd like to say that little 3 mile course was nothin' - it was enough to make every bit of oxygen leave my body faster than it came back in!! I'm toasted tonight!! Drinking water and trying to rest, but all I can think about is how on earth am I gonna beat Mike AND Adam tomorrow!?!! HAHA!!

Looks like I'm out for the race tomorrow because I broke a rear spoke tonight riding on the greenway (of all places) & I don't want to risk damaging my rim. I've got no back up's so I'll be buying some extra's this week for sure.

If anyone has an extra I could buy before the race I'd sure like to race. The specs from the Specialized site are -

Lefty Scott had asked me to go to LBL at FTF, so I was torn between coming & doing the TT & going to LBL until yesterday, when my legs seem to start to hurt pretty bad.
I guess I strain some muscles at work on Wednesday & knew I was not up for the TT & probably not LBL.
Got up this morning & knew TT were out, but thought I could do an easy ride at LBL.
Just the ticket, worked all the kinks out & feel great.
After seeing Reeds report, It would have been a mistake to push myself today.
I'll be there tomorrow to cheer you guys on & I may do a ride after.

Good luck everybody,

We had a good time - I'm beat too. Charlie is out already - he's pooped.

I got my first medal - 2nd place with a 18 minute time (~11.5 mph ave) This is a fun course. (actually, I was in last place - there were only 2 in my class - the other guy had a time of 16 minutes)

Charlie did a great job. he had a time of 23 minutes for a 1st in the 14 and under juniors. Because he has a NORBA licence, that's good for 20 pts for TeamNMB.com :first: He's pretty stoked.

His competition was Jacobran's son Jacob. Jacob and Charlie were being swept by Eric and Eric's chain broke leaving them on there own. Charlie came in and I went looking for Jacob. He had wrecked, and I walked with him for a while. He got back on his bike and finished. Jacob is a natural - keep an eye on this kid :spy:

The day was finished off with some blackened/grilled salmon from Rafferty's with my Dad.

PS _ I'm drinking lots of water and juice - 80% sure I'll be there in the morning. Don't really know why though

I'm bushed - and sore. Although I did a personal best (fastest), I still got last place. The heat really got to me. And two small crashes. The first was while I was in 4th and around 1 mile. My front tire washed out in some soft / powder dry soil. The Black Hills and Trail of tears really taxed my cardio - I could feel my head heating up. The fast stuff in the last half was a welcome relief. In the last 10 feet on dirt, I spun-out in the dust and fell over, jabbing my stomach with my handlebars. I'm glad I have an Ergon since they aren't round (i.e., more surface area) My left side hurts a little from the impact. I hope no damage is done other than a bruised muscle. I ended with a 56 minute time (bike computer pedal/walk time of 54 min). It was a good feeling to finish. Over all, a fun race - except for the heat.

Reed pulled in a 2nd place in Sport!!! Some of the other guys did real good too - Orange cleaned up the 40+ beginners.

I got luck today too - right after arriving, I signed up. One minute later, they called my name for a door prize - a Thompson Gift Cert!!! More bling for the bike :yahoo:

See you on the trail!!!

Ron, I keep an extra bike tuned up and ready to go. I wish I had checked the board yesterday to let you know you could use it.

That goes for anyone with last minute bike problems. It's not a full suspension but it will get you around the track just fine. I brought it down today in case Kiersta needed it. (she beant a rim at the TT)

Great job today everyone!

I just got off the couch from the post race coma/nap.

Great job Reed. I'm looking all over the trail for those extra minutes you guys have on your lap times. You must not be having to stop after a climb and question wether your having a heart attack or not. Are you sure your brakes work? I actually have to use mine sometimes. Maybe that's it. I told my wife today as we left the trail, I'm just not sure how they do it.

Another phenominal day for me mechanically speaking today. Trying to keep up with Troy, I managed to hit something and tople over. When I picked the bike up, I noticed the seat pointing in a very unnatural direction when I went to straighten it, it came off in my hand. SWEET!!!! So after a minute or two of cursing, I threw the seat and post into the woods and went on without. THAT SUCKS, by the way. After suffering 3/4 of a lap that way, I saw Grant who due to a broken pedal was forced to DNF...So I inhereted a new seat. Thanks GRANT!!!! But the race was shot as were my legs from 6 miles of standing. 11th place...SWEET!!!

What kind of seat were you running Mike? Do you know if had hollow rails, chromoly, titanium, etc. I keep waiting for my titanium railed WTB Rocket V to do the same thing, it is always creaking and whining. I have had the best luck with solid chromoly rails.

titanium rails. I do have to say that some of the annoying creaking and popping that I thought was coming from the handle bars stopped after the seat broke..HMMMMM.

I do understand the volunteer thing and all of us should remember to thank every volunteer we see at every race. Without them there would be no races. I know this from helping at running races and from when I raced competitively back in the stone ages. Thanks for being here, said to a volunteer, goes a long way.

p.s. I remember one race I worked and was responsible for passing out the bananas and water at the end of the race. Well there was a 5km and a 1/2 being run. Only registered runners were allowed the food. Had to have a race number. What a day of explaining and being cursed out from non-runners. I could laugh about it because I knew this could and would happen and heard someone calling me an a**hole. I said sir I am not an a**hole. I am just volunteering my time to keep people like you from taking what does not belong to them. Embarrassed the life out of him in front of his daughters. :) So remember to say thanks for being here. I am used to taking the crap but most people are not.

Bikeme - In most organizations, whether corporate, religious or even loosely knit "hobby" clubs, we all know the "80/20 rule"; 80% of the work is done by 20% of the members. Heheheh!

I thought that the results were being compiled and posted by folks that do it fulltime. My bad.

If there is anything I can do to assist in the future by compiling and/or submitting TeamNMB's results, I will be glad to do so.

Thanks for putting on a great race!

I will take responsibility for the delay since I was the race director. There is a form TBRA has teams fill out with official results. TBRA is usually vey fast about getting the results posted once they recieve this form. I'm sure the person we had in charge of that form just had other priorities last week and didn't understand the importance of getting those results in on a timely matter. I do understand this issue but I'm not going to throw this person under the bus since they are one of the few members that help do a lot for our team:crazy: Again I'm sorry for the delay.

We have posted some results from the June 9th TT and June 10th XC on our web site WWW.teammoabracing.com. Click on race flyer. This only includes results if you have an annual license. This does not show the racers who raced on a one day license. This is what was send to TBRA to update points. The complete results should be up some time tomorrow(I hope). All of this is out of my hands. I trying to get the people in charge to get this info out as soon as I can. It seems they are busy with jobs. So be understanding.:frusty:
