Everyone,

Montgomery Bell State park will be having a Bike trail workday on June 17, 2007 from 9am - 11am.

Some of the projects to be worked on include:
Trimming face and hand swatters,
Weedeating,
Blazing some sections of trail.

Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather. Anyone interested in weed eating must wear closed toe shoes and pants. We will have a limited number of weed eaters, and loppers. Anyone that has hand loppers please bring them with you. In addition please bring water and bug spray.

We will meet at the Bike trail parking lot at 9am. For any questions please let me know.

If anyone is interested in joining me, I will be doing an after workday ride to admire the hard work from the work day.

Thanks

Eric

My arm is still a little weak to dig, but I think I can weed eat. I have my own machine. That open section of the downhill is probably getting pretty overgrown by now. Hope we can get a decent work crew.

Maybe it was because it was Father's Day, and maybe just because it was hot, or maybe some just wanted to ride rather than work, but we only had three volunteers. Come on guys, I know we can do better than that. I know it came on heels of the Fayetteville work day, which I missed because of imperative appliance repair.

the place is getting pretty overgrown. Eric showed up with a truck full of weedeaters, but with no operators. David and Doug worked on a trail repair, and Eric and I weed-ate the worst places. David and Doug's work was on Main Street just after the creek crossing. They filled what is a mud hole in the winter, and built a french drain thru it.

Eric and I got all the open places in the powerlines cut back some. I did the entire length of the Haynie Branch trail (White) so if you have been avoiding because of weediness, I invite you to try it again now. I got the worst out, but really need to go back in there with a string trimmer (I only had blade) to widen out some more in places.

Hey Bob - I was there - late - w/ my bro (definate beginner) and Charlie. Because I knew it was to be a slow ride day, I brought the hand shears and trimmed some stuff on the red and upper blue - mostly just the worst offenders. I also removed a ton of sticks and small branches.

He really liked the trails - but he thought it was harder than L4 or HC - go figure?

More hills. for a beginner, that is a big deal. Glad you came out. sorrry missed you.

BTW, I could not keep up with you and Robert at L4 last week. I had already ridden about 10 miles by then, but you guys were haulin butt over there. Even if I was in shape, I don't think I could go that fast.
