I'm thinking of getting some new pedals soon. I've been a egg beater man for a few years now but I'm thinking of trying out some Times.
I've heard that the ATAC are good or the ATAC Alum. but I really don't know much about them. Which ones do you all like??
Does anyone have a pair I could borrow for a ride or two and try out?? I'd compensate you with some nice beer!
I may just get some egg beater candy's, but I thought i'd check out the Time's if I could. I don't like how sloppy my egg beaters get after a couple years of service.
I got a pair of the Atac's, and really like them. I had egg beaters and eventually broke them. The time pedals feel much more precise and I do not clip out when I hit rocks.

Chewy,
I have Atac XS carbons, Aliums, and some old school Time ATACs.
Hands down the best pedal of the three is....the old school ATACs. They are 4 or 5 years old and the others are only a few month's old. They don't make em like these any more! The engagement and release is ridiculously awesome. I run them on my SS, so I really put a lot of stress on them and they just smile and take it. If you don't believe me, ask jjscarf. Oh, I have a set of aliums you are welcome to try out.

Yea I know Scarff loves his and I know you recently switched over. I thought I'd remember you guys saying the old ones were the best, but I couldn't remember which ones exactly.
Is that auction you listed for the "old style" ones that are so good?? I am watching it and will see.
I'm running ATAC Z's. Got a couple of years on them now. They've held up well to the beating this Clydesdale has given them. I need new cleats but the pedals still work great.

I have ridden the old kind and I have a pair of ATAC Aliums. They are awesome in mud, (the SPD's that I had before were not so awesome), and have stood up to the worst beatings a new rider can dish out. I know that I have broken all kinds of other parts, but my ATACs are working fine! I have the cheapest version, so I know that they are going to be heavier than Eggbeaters, but they do have a platform of sorts.

Yes, I think the auction is for carbon body style and I believe mine are the composite body.
I've been using the ATAC Aliums for about three years now. My cleats are worn, but the pedals are still kick'n like the first day I got them.

Alright, I just won some Time ATAC carbon world champion pedals off ebay!!
Now I just need some cleats....
anyone want two somewhat worn out pairs of egg beaters?? They would make great "learn to ride clipless" pedals...hehe

I have a set of the old carbons i got back in 2000 good solid pedals the only problem is the plastic part under the springs will bake some times.

So I got my Times in the mail first thing this morning!! UPS actually woke me up at 8:30 pounding on my door.
I gotta say right off the bat these pedals seem bad-a**. They seem to be in great shape for used pedals and don't seem too much heavier than my cheap egg beaters. I think on paper they are 100 grams heavier, which in the hand test is hard to feel.
I'd post up a picture but Reed has my camera right now. I guess you will have to meet me for a ride to see them.
I really need some cleats though, maybe a trip to CT is in store for today.

I appreciate that. I don't think I'll make it down to the trace today. It's errand day with the wife, and it takes me a while to get down there. If I get the time to get to a shop for cleats, I may either ride hammy later tonight or ride something in the morning tomorrow.
