I've noticed since building up my SS that I occasionally get a "knock" that happens on every pedal rotation.
I can pedal backwards for a moment and it'll either go away for awhile or get quieter.
After messing with the BB tightness, crank tightness, chain tension, checking the chainline, and the tightness of the rear wheel in the stays, WHEW!..
I did more searching and found that this is a common issue with some BMX type freewheels namely ACS and Shimano. Nothing is wrong with the sound but it can be worrisome and otherwise quite annoying.
As far as I can tell there is nothing that can really be done to prevent this. BMX type FW's are considered throw away items after a few months and come cheap to replace(sub $20) compared to some manufacturers cogs and cassettes.
The best solution(s) to this, IMHO, is to either buy a somewhat expensive White Industries freewheel that has replaceable cartridge bearings(probably the best option) OR simply live with it and replace as needed.
Finally just as an added opinion/option from me, (as if anyone asked for or wanted it  ) is that if there is a favorite gear for the local trails, spend the money on the White Industries FW and then go cheap on the others since you'll not be using them less.
