I'll just be honest and don't get me wrong, this is not a complaint. I thought about coming and I know I would enjoy the ride. But, I was looking for someone in the lineup who was more my speed.
The lineup looks like a race training ride, where I know I can't keep up and I don't want to hold anyone back.
I don't think I would quallify for the raceing crowd, especially on a full rigid single speed. 32X16

Tim,
This is a good old fashioned Sorba ride (nobody left behind). :thumb:
Not that I'm a mad dog on the trail, but I will be riding an easy
pace & using this ride to just have a good time.
This is not a training ride in any respects.
Come on out & ride with us. :thumb:

Tim,
This is definately not a training ride of any sort. Most of those attending won't post up on here. It is designed to have all ability levels and I figure alot of different riders will show up. Please come out and ride. Your a good rider anyway so don't worry about it. I will have leaders for all different levels. You will not be at the back of this field if that even matters....I have ridden with you so I feel comfortable saying that......:thumb:

I'm brand new to mountain biking, today was my first ride (it took me 2 hours to get through Lock4's trails 1-9 and I had to get off to walk the bike several times). I'd love to come but I'm not sure if I'm up to everyone's minimum level of riding.:cyclist:

To all who are worried about any of the paces of the rides...please try to leave that worry behind! These are some of the best beginner rides around!! If it takes us 3 hours to get around the trail, so be it! There will be someone to lead the rides, and probably myslef to be at the back of the pack. So that means no matter what's going on, I'll be the last one out of the woods!
Like Kelly said - no man/woman left behind!! No pace rules, no competitions, etc...Just good ol' fashioned fun times!
If there are competitors like Cooper58 and Millspaugh who need to come gang up on others --- we'll just let them race off in the front of the pack!! LOL
These rides are what it's all about! Please don't let these particular fears have anything to do with this SORBA ride! :thumb:
Mil-Saps, I'll deal with you later!! Tough guy! :agree:

:ditto2: to what Reed, Squishy, and everyone else says. These rides are always fun. Even if you are having an "off day" on the bike there is always someone to ride with. And honestly the best way to become a better rider is to ride with someone who is better than you and just watch the lines they take and when they shift, etc. You won't regret it if you come out.

I'm planning on being there as well......got the word out as best I can to the Bellas. Might be showing with a guy or two from Columbia.
I want tips on how to safely take the BMX jump. That thing scares the beejeeezus out of me at high speeds. I was braking waaaay too much during the race.

I would suggest hooking up with Chris Cooper. Cooper58 on the board. He is the master jumper and Lock 4 is his home trail. I am sure he can help with a few pointers on any jumps out there.:thumb:

You'll be doing sub 1 hr laps in no time - we used to ride 3 to 4 miles and call it a day. It's really fun to look back at what we used to walk up.
See ya'll there on Saturday and looking forward to meeting a few new faces. I'll have the digital SLR for photo training. Wear your best biking attire :chewie0ol:

Thanks guys!
Mike, if you look at the pic on my profile that Reed & Kim took from the race, I'm cresting that hill. I braked a little, then just rocked my weight over the back wheel to hold it down. I crashed at Chickasaw a year and a half ago from letting the back wheel eat me alive in a similar situation. I can't really explain where it is, other than it's a great spot to watch the race and it's a mostly open area in the woods.
I mean, I'm not looking to get airborne in one day! Just maybe a little more comfy with the idea.
We'll have a great time Saturday! Can't wait!
So is this still on for tomorrow? With all the rain on Wednesday and Thursday do you think the trail will be dry enough?

I'd rather do dirt, but post up if anyone wants to plan for a fall back.

Print off the application and fill it out before coming - this way you can ride more  Darryl will have applications if you don't do this.
After the ride - Charlie and I are heading over to Shane's Rib Shack in Hendersonville for some yummy BBQ chicken. If you haven't discovered this place - it's awesome. Some of the best BBQ chicken around. And awesome sauce. It's located near Home Depot off Indian Lake Blvd (about 1/2 mile from Bikers Choice). The also have good ribs - haven't tried the pulled pork, but I hear it's good too. We were introduced to the place in Knoxville by Fatty-crash-a-lot (Paul) after the Haw Ridge Race. :hungry: :hungry:

Big thanks to SORBA for putting this thing on. It was a great time. My best guess was 50 or so riders all in all, but I'm not sure if everyone was there for ride or if they were riding just because. Either way, it was a great way to spend a Saturday morning. Hats off to Scott and Amy for setting up the tent and getting registration done, and for Tim and the rest of the board for getting it all together.
Thanks you guys,I had a blast, even though it felt like it was 100.
Thanks also to SORBA Middle TN and Scott and Amy for the much needed Gatorade and clif bars, without them I don't think I would of went back out the second time.
And hey we learned a cool magic trick at the mexican resturant afterwards, well kind of cool anyways.

Great Ride Today!!!
This group ride today is only one of the many reasons I joined & support Sorba!
The temps were a little hot, but it is August & that's part of it, just glad it was a good day for me, the heat can effect anybody at anytime, I'm just glad I quit drinking beer last night at 10PM or I might have been dehydrated today.
I agree with Doug, the mexican food after a ride always hits the spot & a magic trick to boot by the waiter was just to much.
Great turn out, had a blast guys!
Thanks Kelly for getting this together!! :thumb:

So great to see everybody!! I had a great time riding the first lap with Melissa, Eddie and Chef Dave. Good to meet all of the new faces and see familiar ones. Wendy and Maria did me in on that second lap pace. I needed that. :training1:
Big kudos to the organizers. If I didn't have to buy a wheelset to replace a damaged front wheel by the race at Stanky, I would have walked away with a shirt and a membership. Maybe it'll be in the bike budget soon.

Thanks to everyone who came out. I put the number at around 50 people or so like Dave said. I think we also got 6 new members which is great.
Thanks to Scott and Amy for all the work with the trailer, tent, and sign up's. You guys rock.
Thanks to Tim, Chris C, and Reed for helping me lead the different rides.
I also enjoyed getting to meet some new people like Calvin (wookv) and spend time getting to know some others (Doug) who I had met before but got a chance to get to know a little better this time.
Enjoyed all the riding company and the awesome Mexican food afterwards.
P.S. Daddy Mike, it is not "Pops" that the waiter called you....it was "Poppy"......

Things work out for a reason!
My back tire blew out today after 11 miles at the club ride for a friend who was having a birthday so it was a perfect reason to pack up and hit Lock 4 today. I wanted to do both but it would have been impossible for me to get in a metric and get to Lock 4 in time.
I got to do both!!
Thanks to Scott and Amy for volunteering their time to help support SORBA. I joined today so I am official!!
Please tell Scott Smith "Happy 40th from me and I missed getting to see him and Livvey"!!
I enjoyed getting to see the usual NMB (you know who you are!) people and getting to meet new people such as Carolyn H., Barry H. (who kept me company on the trail- Thanks!), and Fullsquishy (I'm glad I got to put a face with your board name!). The idea to take a cool dip in the lake afterwards was sooo refreshing!! I even did a few freestyle strokes. Open water's not too bad when it's not deep!!
Steve (Caveman) and Charlie, Shane's was awesome!! The bbque chicken was delicious!! Yummy!! You guys ROCk!!
We stopped in at Biker's choice and I got to say Hi to Big Ring Travis. I know I'm gonna love the new tires! Thanks!!
Orange was there with his son too! So that was a treat to get to chat with him some.
I'm looking forward to doing more rides like this except I could use cooler temps!!
FUN, FUN, FUN!! Thanks to all those responsible:more_cowbell:

I hope someone hits the trail with a chain saw soon. Must have been a pretty good storm the other day. We got 4 inches on the other side of the river but Gallatin got a little more. The booms were big :rain:
