I'm thinking full body armor just for everyday living.
But the best part is that the fiancé has already approved the new bike for next spring with a pretty healthy budget at that.

Its been a loooong time since I've been on here, but thankfully after 3 knee surgeries, 2 doctors, 16 months, and a lot of prayers, I am finally back on two wheels. Well sort of. I'm only cleared...
I've never ridden Bald river, but Indian Boundry is pretty much flat. Its got a few small rises, but a good trail to cruise on. There is normally a fare amount of foot traffic, so beware of that.
Thanks Chris. Hopefully one day I can get back out. I'm thinking that kayaking may be my next adventure this spring.
I haven't been on here in the past 6 months and I wish this wasn't the reason why. But after 2 knee surgeries, and almost 6 months of physical therapy, its time to face reallity. I think my cycling...
Thanks D. I'll get on that. Just sucks for this guy. He was just getting into the sport and loving it. Hope he can recover it or find a way to get a new ride.
I recently sold my GF Fat Possom to a guy in the N. Georgia/Chatt. area. It along with his daughter's bike were stolen this morning. I know this is not exactly local, but I know that our...
Glad to know you guys aren't gone for good. I didn't get out of the car to go see, just saw it when I was leaving Palmes Verdes for lunch after church.
Thanks for the update.
Not that I can really ride till about August, but I noticed today that the Bike Pedlar in Hermitage seems to be closed. Is it moving or did I miss something?
Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the advice and encouragement. I'm still waiting to get an MRI and for the swelling to go down. I bought a trainer this winter so hopefully I can incorporate that low impact spinning into...
So it looks like the cycling gods are not shining on me again this spring. I fell at work and dislocated my knee and the therapist is saying I probably tore my ACL.
Has anyone been through this...
Hated to miss this one, but definitely want to join the next one. Had a late night at work then another early start today. Thanks Tim for being willing to be the clay in the Potter's hands.
Trek is pretty much all I ride and really until you get into the higher end models where carbon fiber and such come into play, the model year makes little to no difference. I'm currently buying a...
I don't currently have an MTB till I get my new one (first time in about 15 years and I think I might know what a crack head feels like), but I may try to show up for the pre-ride anyway.
Very cool. Which video editing software do you use? I just got a ContourHD and want to put some music from my stuff from Ray's before I post it.
My answer to people that remove natural trail features is simple: ride/practice more or ride a different, smoother trail. What would HC be without its rocks or roots? Or MB with out its trees? ...
I was just thinking more on the lines of clearing debris and that sort of thing. Moving rocks and that sort of thing can only make matters worse as far as standing water and erosion.
Not trying...
Sounds good. While I admit that I know very little about the correct way to build a trail to SORBA standards, I am willing to learn. But in the meantime, do we need SORBA sanctioning to do an...
Weather pending, I'll plan to be there. I'm guessing this is not a rain or shine event?
This may be another post for another thread (if so Mods please feel free to move it), but in the future...
Are the hubs centerlock only or are they attached via 6 bolt adapter? Starting to build up my '29er and looking for parts
Just a quick question that I should probably know the answer to, but here goes anyway:
I am looking at '29er hardtails to replace my squishy '26. Every frame I've looked at says they are...
Sad to say that I ride my road bike 5 or 10 times for every 1 ride of the mtb. I started road riding when I was in college in Charleston, SC (no mountains or substantial hills) and enjoy equally as...
Just got finished with day 1 of riding and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!! This will probably be an annual thing for me now. I got some video with the ContourHD and as soon as I can figure out how to...
Way long time, no post. Actually not been riding that much after the rough spring and summer I had. But I'm taking some much needed time away from the hotel and with the girlfriend's blessing...
PM sent on the MP9
Found a multi-tool at Hamilton Creek today. Let me know what brand and model and I'll be happy to reunite the two of you.
I still wish I could be there this weekend. But I agree with you about Boyd Gap. Boyd Gap with any significant rain can be sketchy especially on the upper section of it. The rest of the trail will...
Anyone doing the Raisin Hope ride next Saturday the 3rd? I'm going to attempt the 45 mile ride, but given my lack of fitness not looking to set any course records.
I've heard they have some pretty, um we'll call it interesting, post-ride "refreshments" too . . .
I'd have to agree with Ashville: great riding, whitewater, and the Highland Brewing company
Las Vegas: Boulder City/Bootleg Canyon is just a quick drive out of the city, great food and...
I raced it a couple years ago and had a great time. It is well organized and the guys at Scotts are second to none. There's no way I can get into shape to race it again this year otherwise I'd be...
I'm thinking of doing the 50 on a geared 26'er hardtail. Thinking semi-slick tires fit the bill.
Thanks Travis. Its a good thing I didn't waste my money then. I guess its frame pump, spin skins, and extra tubes for now on. But I'm with you Chris, I ride 110 in the rear tire and 60 would like...
Can you use the Stans conversion on a Bontrager road wheel? Had two flats the other day on one ride and only had one tube, good times.
The Percy Priest dam is also closing on August 1st through December 1st. The greenway will still be open, but you have to access it either at the Kohls parking lot or via Stewarts Ferry
I think going blind is the next symptom
I second White Lightning. I've been using it for 6 or 7 years now on both my road and mtb. I do use simple green for when I pull the whole drivetrain and and really scrub it down. I also use it on...
Finally got cleared to ride last week from the DR. and went out for the first time since the Ride of Silence. . .
HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!:yield:
My legs are like jello, lungs feel like sandpaper...
Its almost like NASCAR this year. I normally sleep till noon since I work so late and I've found myself fast forwarding the DVR and just stopping when I see the crashes and then rewinding to see the...
I've got my dvr set to record them all. I really hope Contador's bike breaks this year so Schleck can ride by him giving him the preverbial finger. I don't think Evan has a chance but Levi could...
Thanks for all the kind words. I got to see my gastro doctor on Monday. He examined me, gave me an "oh crap" look, and left the room. He came back a bit later after having called his neurologist...
Sorry not implying "my" as in formal ownership. I have my Makorav now and love it. Reliable and straight shooting. Got it as a gift from my Uncle in '98 and will never part with it.
That just made my day!! Wonder how much help he had "falling" off the curb?
That pistol look dangerously like my Makorov, am I wrong? Good gun for not a lot of dough, I just wish the recoil spring wasn't so tight.
I have a good friend that carries either .380 or 9mm "bear spray" on certain unnamed trails in East TN. Just sayin'
Overender, great news about your friend!!!
I thought a long time about chiming in on this topic as I have strong feelings regarding gun rights, but now the hydrocodine has fulling kicked in I...
:big_grin:So long time no ride. I thought I had pulled a muscle in my back so I was letting it heal, but it didn't. So(very long story short), one walk-in clinic and an ER visit later, I've been...
I think the speed limit is 15mph if memory serves. I pretty much quit riding the greenway because of the heavy traffic. If you want fitness either ride the road or wait for the trails to dry out.
I'll plan to meet you guys there. I'll be on road bike too.
The Ride of Silence is this Wednesday the 18th starting at 7pm at Centennial Park. For those of you who are aware of what it is, it is a ride to honor/remember those who have been hurt or worse yet...
