    GHOST SHIFTING?

Recently I put a new scram 991-cross-step chain on my 2008 Jamis XCR and now in the middle gears on the cassette I am having trouble with ghost shifting. The rear cassette probably has less than 150 miles on it since I replaced it. Seems to be fine for a few minutes then will start to shift on its own. The chain is dropping to the smaller clogs and works fine if i shift 1 up to compensate. Any suggestions????

Have you adjusted your derailleur since you first put your bike together or did this just start happening?

I had Richard adjust the derailler and I think its pretty close. I dont know if its the chain breaking in or cable stretching? or if something else is going on.

I would have to say it's going to be the cable stretching and settling in if you have replaced it recently. It sounds like there is a bit too much slack. Try turning your barrel adjusters out and see if the problem goes away. You may have to re-tension your cable.

How old was the chain when you put the cassette on? Sounds like a problem I've had, of my ring and middle (most used) cogs wearing-in to the chain. Put on a new chain, and trouble. I've started changing my chain every couple of months (of routine riding). Chains are cheaper than rings and cassettes. Has worked for me for around six months and counting, with a cheap cassette (cause it was the only match in town). Hope your's is adjustment!

Hangers can be realigned with the right tool. Your L.B.S. might be able to get you runnin' in the mean time.
