You have a pain in your what? Piriformis Syndrome

Anybody know anything about this? I have had pain in the hip area for going on 4 months now, sometimes worse than others. Online research leads me to think I might have piriformis syndrome. The pain sometimes travels up the back and down the leg. Have tried various stretching exercises and even seen a choropractor, with limited relief. The pain is not excruciating, and actually bothers me more off the bike than on, but it is getting very old. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

Let me know a cure if you find one! I'm going on almost 4 yrs now. Sounds kind of similar to my injury. Mine is chronic inflammation of the SI Joint. Its a pain that is right where my hip and tail bone meet. Sometimes the pain will stem down the back side of my leg, which is the SI Nerve. As far as I know there isnt much you can do for it except time. I am slowly getting better and hopefully one day I can run again. I have gone to Physical Therapy, Cio, the strongest of the meds, and steroid injections through epidural. Good luck!

    UPDATE

Now have a diagnosis, but not a treatment plan yet. They say its a slightly bulging disc. From what I can gather, it sounds worse than it really is, but I don't know for sure yet. Hopefully not too much time off the bike...

I have had a herniated disc for years. It is in the very low part of the spine. I had the sciatica pain, too, with other related pain--had MRI's, appts with Ortho, referrals to pain specialists, and I cannot stomach any pain meds, so that wasn't an option for me. The ONLY way for me to escape debilitating pain is to do CRUNCHES and keep my core strong. Trust me, it is hard to make yourself do them religiously, but WILL make your pain go away. I put my body through a lot with racing and training, and with keeping my core strong I am free of back pain and I am able to do more!

Plus, it doesn't cost anything! (And there are only GOOD side effects).

You have a pain in your what Piriformis Syndrome

I think, it is interesting to share our own experience: what the books have you read in english and what of them did you like?
For example, beginning from the theme author, I tried to read Maxim Gorky fairytales. They're interesting and are written with a rather well-understood language, but for those places, where he describes the nature, the landscape etc.
Now I'm reading "Vanity Fair" by Charles Thackeray - I can not say this book to be very interesting - but may be the plot turns to become more interesting soon - who knows.
