    Newbie with Questions

I am just starting out looking for a bike. I'm a college student, so, I'm not as financially stable as I'd like to be. I need advice on purchasing a good bike. I want to ride on the road with a team as well as trail and mountain biking. I would be thrilled to take suggestions on a bike that I should purchase. I've been doing research ont he internet. The more I research, the more overwhelmed I feel about it. If anyone can help, that would be great!!!!
    Thanks so much!!!!

What kind of budget do you have? That is a key factor in guiding some options for you to check out.

You will definately need two bikes if you want to keep up with road-bikers. On a limited budget, used may be a good route, but you need to be careful to get the right sized bike.

the bikes out there that do both offroad and onroad real well are quite pricey. if you truly want to ride road and mountain, you'll have to do some compromising with one or the other! more specifically, what type of riding will you be doing? like full mountain bike single track and 30+ mile road rides? then you'd need two bikes, if it's one or the other, we might be able to steer you the right direction.
