NMB group ride and cookout! May 12th at Lock 4 in Gallatin.

UPDATE!! - NMB Group Ride and Cookout - Saturday, May 12th, 1:00 PM - Lock 4

EVERYONE IS INVITED - all race teams, bike clubs, etc...

Bring your own food, we'll have a grill there, plates, condiments, napkins, chips, etc... Just bring your main course!! Ride at 1:00 or so, then eat around 3:00.

Just pitching this idea to everyone. How about a get together at a local trail for a ride and cookout sometime in May. All are invited.

First step is a date. We have a race at Tanasi on the 6th (Sun) and some are doing a road race on the 19th (Sat). Mother's day is the 13th (Sun) and Memorial day weekend is the 25th thru 28th (Fri -Mon). So I'm thinking either Sat the 12th or Sun the 20th.

Next step is pick a trail. I'm in favor of Lock 4, it has shelters and a place for grilling, and seems to be the usual gathering place. I don't know much about HC or LH as far as shelter. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Ok, as for time. How about 2 o'clock to meet and ride 3 o'clock to eat and then ride till whenever.

Finally food. My wife and I will provide (plates, cups, napkins, forks/spoons/knives, ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, and ICE.)

Here is a list of items we would need.

    Lettuce/tomato/pickles
    Chips
    Burgers
    Hot dogs/brats
    Buns
    Drinks
    Gas grill or charcoal
Any other side items you can think of!

DATE: here are your 2 choices....Sat 12th or Sun 20th.
TRAIL: Lock 4 Hamilton Creek Long Hunter (other)
TIME: Start at 2 eat at 3 ride till whenever

This is a family friendly cookout, so bring the kids.

If you have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to let me know. Post up for a day and trail. Thanks!

Higher Gound could be an option, they have shelters, they would want to $$ for property use but it would be a fun place..

Either date is good with me, I will bring the HOT DOGS + BRATS w/ matching BUNS.

LH has great facilities at the bottom of the big hill, but they can get packed in a hurry! My choice would be L4.

Wow - awesome Jason! Taking care of business right away!! Love it!!

Date - EDIT - Kim and I are changing our vote to May 12 due to some schedule changes at her work. We'll definitley be around on the 12th, but maybe not for the 20th.

Food Contribution - We'll bring all the Chips we can once we see how many people are coming out.

Location - I vote for Lock 4 with it's fun, somewhat intermediate trail, and a great location for parties!!

Thanks Jason!! Just an added note - This party is an 'everyone is invited' party, not just a team party isn't it? (Not sure on the final outcome from the brief shoutbox talk.)

Count me in on this. I will find a way there. Just let's not do it on Mother's day. Then I definitely would not be able to make it.

Either day looks like it would work for me. So, I guess my vote doesn't count on that one. However, I have a gas grill I would be willing to bring. I don't mind cooking too, as long and no one minds Ex-Lax in their burgers. Just kidding, I will help out however I can.

This is great! I feel like I have met about 12 of you know for a total of about 30 seconds! It would be great to have time to hang out after a ride. My only problem is that I work 2 out of every 4 weekends, and I won't know which two they are until about a week before that particular month begins. Nevertheless, I think there is a better chance of me having the 20th off, so that is my official vote. I also agree that Lock 4 is a good place to stage it.

Sounds great! I'm not sure which week I'll be in Miami, but I'm pretty sure it's at the beginning of the month. The 12th is out because I have a wedding to attend, so the 20th is the only one of the two that is doable. I will be happy to help on the grill and bring whatever we may be short of. It doesn't matter where. I ride CT all the time, so anywhere else will be a nice change.

You will not belive how much this made me laugh! I'd love to come, I really would. Just the 12th, so far it looks like I already got plans here. And the 20th I'm going to be in Maine. But if Jess or Jeremy happen to be cancel the 12th, and I can get a way there . . .

Ehh, I'm just dreaming. Jeremy and Jess never cancel anything. Thanks for the invite though!

    Added a poll

I hope this helps. It allows multiple choices in each vote, so you can vote for both when and where.

I will try to be there, but not sure yet. May have a "honeydew" weekend upcoming & I don't want to commit to anything just yet.

If I am able to come I will let you know what I can bring. I also have a gas grill that I could bring and I don't mind cooking. NO ex-lax involved.

Sounds like a great time!! What do I need to bring? Will there be a list where we can put down what we are going to bring? I hope my knee is better by then so I can ride! My knee is doing pretty good. I rode my stationary yesterday for an hour. I will also be bringing my son and his mountain bike. He's 12, so if there are any other kids that would be great!!:

Hi Guys! It is Jeanie.... Mike's wife. Sounds like most people would like to have the cookout on the 12th. We will not be able to attend. We will be working that day , providing medical coverage at Steeplechase. We won't be done til late that night (like 6-7pm). But you guys enjoy...........and a big thanks to Jason for getting this thing together.
    Take care,

    Sounds great !
    I'll plan on coming.
Can I bring anything or help in anyway ?
I have a pickup with a little room left over next to my bike, I can haul some thing if need be.

    E - Brown,
Let's make a dive plan, I go to Fla. to dive about 4-6 times a year,
Know several good dive charter operations around Pensacola & Panama City.

I'm headed out the door as soon as I log off to ride Hamilton Creek.

Look forward to meeting all of you.

man, i would love to hook up for any ONE of those trips. I technically am not certified for wreck dives but I know enough, and have been diving long enough to feel comfortable doing it. My only advanced cert is for night diving. I have been diving for a long time though and I am very comfortable under the water.

PS. Don't forget, I have signed up to bring the hot dogs, brats, and buns to match.

I 'm planning on coming to the cookout & ride a little (or a lot).

I don't want to come empty handed, so can any body tell me what might be needed?

Encyclopediabrown, I sent you a PM on the diving stuff, I don't want to hijack this thread into a diving thing.

Well, I vote for Monty Bell and Boca Burgers, grilled, and I would bring them but it does not matter because Saturdays are no way for me and Sunday the 20th is the White Lightning race at LBL. So have fun and hope to see you on the trails.

I voted for May 12th at Lock4 since I want to bring my son and I am more likely to get him to ride part of Lock4 then Hammy.

Let me know if I need to bring my grill.

Looks like Sat. May 12th at Lock 4 is the place and date! Most people are excited about DSG, so I'll wait till it is over to start making plans for food and supplies. Some people have already posted what they can bring out, so hopefully nothing has changed. As the date gets closer, we can make final arrangements.

Hmm, maybe I'll do an XC ride fron Groveville to Gallatin for this event. Only 250+ miles I'm guessing. I should probally leave now if I want to get there in time.

Man, I really want to come to this. Too bad I have plans that are concreted and I live in freaking Jersey. Well, maybe I'll call one of yous that's attending just to say hi to everyone. I really look forward to meeting everyone some time.

Well, have fun at this great event. I'll be in Jersey.

Yes. Let me say I don't dislike dogs. It just seemed randomly funny.

    Joey,

If you leave in the next 45 min. you can just make it to the cookout in 2011.
Only thing is you'll need a 3000 liter Camel Back & about 28,000 protein bars.

    Sorry you will miss it.

Can't wait - going to try and get the 4 of us there - might be just Charlie and I though - is it pot luck?

Trail needs some trimming before next weekend. Lots of new greenery hanging down.

    Steve

Oh - more details to follow -
Big Caveman - 2012 Specialized Epic Expert 29er and 2006 Santacruz Superlight - custom burple color
Little Caveman - 2010 Voodoo Hoodoo 26'er - Steel is Still Real / custom build

…but on Voyage 34, he finally met himself coming down an up-staircase, and the encounter was crushing (Porcupine Tree).
