I'm trying to hit up the bell before work in the morning, whats the fastest way to get there from Nashville (downtown)? 40 all the way or highway 70?

40, exit McCory Lane, avoid as much of 70 as you can...just my opinion. That area was hit really bad by the flooding, probably some amount of those 80 big trucks they're sending out to collect the debris will be out there.

    Go thru Kingston Springs

Take I40 to Kingston Springs. turn right at exit. then first left at light. (go slow 30 mph) follow thru town to 4-way stop. turn right thru the main drag, and by the old shops and old town parts and city hall. at the next stop, in front of city hall, turn left. that gets you thru town. Then go slow (30 speed limit and radar), till you get out of town. Then you can either go straight at the next 3-way stop, or right. I think right is alittle faster. Either way will take you to Hwy 70, near white bluff. and then of course on west from there to Jones creek road past white bluff. Kimbro says this is the fastest and he used to drive to nashville daily.

In generally (flood damage aside) taking the Charlotte Exit out past Costo on 40 and driving 70 the entire way is my preferred method. It's only a few minutes longer and much mellower/more scenic. Not to mention more fuel efficient since you're cruising at 50-55mph instead of 70-75mph on the interstate and the mileage is considerably less. Also, there's a great tomato stand in White Bluff that's got a bunch of rockin' produce I usually hit on the way home. If you're driving around rush hour, however, it can be a bear.

I also take this route. I've always wondered if it would be faster to stay on I-40 longer, past McCrory Ln, but I've never tried it. I generally can get to MB in 40-45 minutes from the Nolensville exit off 440.

Briley is way longer. On a commute, east bound, I exited at White Bridge heading to 65 N. On 40, I was along side a tractor with low-boy carrying an M1 Abrams. He was doing 50-55. I got on Briley and did 70+. Came out on 65N and there was the Abrams.
