Saturday May 29 FTF Prep Work Day Hamilton Creek 10:00 am

    All -

I would like to set up a Saturday 10 am work crew to do about 3-4 hours work out there and get the trail ready for the race. Let's meet out by the Lakeside trail entrance at 10:00 and work until we get the trail in shape.

We need to tweak a few areas, put up some temp signs that indicate the race loop for those getting practice laps in, and make sure all the trees, non-flowing areas are fixed etc. Nothing worse than riding a trail for 6 hours that doesn't flow.

If you have NO trail work experience, don't worry, we can show you want to do. The trail needs some love anyway, so two birds with one stone here.

Most of all we want to make sure Tryon knows where the race loop is. He's gunning for someone...

    Any questions, let me know!

    Thanks,

I'm planning on coming out. Do I need to bring any specific tools?

I got your tools right here.

Tools? No way, we got tools. We have tools that people haven't even heard of! Seriously, I will have the Sorba tool trailer, which is the tool of tools. So in other words, the Tool will be bringing the tools. If Big Poppy was going to be there, the "Lord of Tools" would be present, but in this case just the "Garden Variety Tool."

I'll be at the Lakeside Trailhead and will be in black Escalade with the "Tool" trailer that consequently will be full of tools...and gas.

Word Up. See you at 10:00. Call me if you get lost, lonely or need a friend.

I would have come to help, but I have work to do on my own yard that I have been putting off for weeks.

Good turnout - I'm not sure what the others did, but we cleared the trail of pokey things (mostly cedar branches), a few small trees that were in the way, opened up a tight corner, and moved a few dead trees from the creek crossing just past the Photo-Op Drop to where the trail comes out at the lake.

The trail from where it goes back into the woods to the end needs a weedeating - mostly just small leg smackers. And one huge tree near the end.

Thanks to all who came out today to help, we got a lot done, but there is still more.

Mark, Chris, Brian, Jose, Colin, Amy, Reed, Graham and myself worked on the temporary "two way" section we will need in the feeder trail at the beginning, fixed the flood/water damage and moved on to clearing and cleaning up the trail. We got about 1/3 of the way.

Thanks for all those who came out. I will be out there again this week to get it finished.

I haven't even looked at the Ned Shelton Section. I hope it is in decent shape.

Good time at La Hacienda afterward!

    Tim
