    1988 Ritchey Super Comp

    Here's one I finally finished working on. It didn't need too much when I got it, but was on slicks (the horror!) and had some pretty nasty bar ends, etc. It also just needed a good clean and tune. I'm a sucker for u-brakes and portage straps...

    Details:

    * 19-inch frame
    * Original fillet brazed Prestige stem and fork
    * Full M730 (six speed) with the brake in the proper place for a VRC bike
    * Timbuk IIs
    * Condor San Marco Supperleggera saddle
    * Suntour XC post
    * Hard anodized RM-20s
    * Suntour XC Compe pedals
    * True Temper bar (newer, I assume)
    * Ritchey True grips (new)

    Here's the catalog link (great site and not mine!): http://www.oldmountainbikes.com/cata...hey1988_12.jpg

    Is it camera angle or is that stem pretty long? Cool rig!

    Thanks! It's on the long end of normal for its age, which means ridiculously long by today's standards!

    Love it.

    But those under the chainstay U-brakes were a disaster in any mud. I remember being on one ride over in what we called "Vaughn's" a fourwheeling area south of the PWP model airplane flying field. This is now houses. On this ride, we went thru a few real muddy places and one guy had a bike with brakes like that. It took a while to get it rolling again.

    How about those hand filed fillet brazing on the head tube. Awesome.

    That stem must be a 170. Never seen one so long, even back in the day.

    Nice!
    Did you hear the one about the guy on his death bed that said "I wish I would have worked more and rode my bike less". Said NO ONE EVER. -Jeff Scott
