could anybody tell me what the best allround downhill tire is that handles well in the wet and mud?
could anybody tell me what the best allround downhill tire is that handles well in the wet and mud?
I personally run Kenda ExCavator 2.5", and they have been very good tires for downhill in all conditions. I also have run the ExCavator 2.1 and 2.35 for xc and liked all of them a lot. They are a little bit bulky for xc riding though.
I've also run Kenda Nevegals of all sizes and they are also a great all around tire. Both the ExCavator and the Nevegal handle wet and mud very well for a 'dry' tire.
A lot of people like Maxxis Minions as well. I've never run them, but they seem to be good for loose and damp conditions.
If you're looking for a full on mud tire, the Kenda King of Traction, (K.O.T.), are great, and Maxxis makes a couple of options, I think the Swapthing and Wet Scream.
Hope that helps. What bike are you putting these tires on? And where are you riding?

This post appears to be spam. Yesterday they also asked if a size 54 cross bike would fit their three year old.

I have found the Continental Mountain Kings to pretty much own on the rear end, 2.4. I run WTB Dissent 2.5 on the front end.
I run Minions. Luv them a lot, but have had some issues in loose conditions.
I'm pretty sold on Kenda (2.7 Nevegal on the front), but have the WTB Dissent 2.5 on the rear (http://www.wtb.com/products/tires/dhfr/dissent/) after hearing a good review from a friend who ran them for a couple months and finding them new for $10 a pop! Had to buy at least a few, now I have plenty of replacement tires. They are not as 'sticky' as some of the others, but that works out fine if you want your rear to shift out/pull around on the tight turns.
May have to try out those Kings also. How is the WTB on the front?
