So i took a job in Lavergne last year and just realized this trail is pretty close. I went out at lunch today adn just took a quick walk through. looks like it could be a fun lunch ride.
Questions: When will the phase 2 be open? has any work been done on phase 2? also, Is it ok to run on the MTB trail?

Mountain Biking is 80% mental, 40% physical, and 20% skills... and that may add up to more than 100%, but I don't know.. I hit my head on a tree this weekend.
Phase 2.1 is scheduled to be finished sometime in June and Phase 2.2 is tentatively scheduled to be finished sometime in the fall. There has been work done on Phase 2.1, but it is not rideable yet. CR is MTB only, but runners do run on it.

Trail was a little soft, and wet in a few spots. A great ride!
Took the kids out for a fun trail hike yesterday. Trail surprisingly has not been mud ridden like last year. However, by Sorba standards, this trail is still in poor condition. I personally would not ride it just for the negative fun factor.
any word if cane ridge would be rideable tomorrow?

This evening there was standing water in some of the ditch crossings. NOT enough to close, it was simply some of the normal wet low areas. Otherwise, the trail was completely dry and clear. Get out and ride!!
Oh...is was really busy out there! Cars were backed in and cars were in and out. To get them to drive away, all you have to do is walk to the map and act like you are calling the park police. They drove away fast (floored it) and I acted like I was telling the police their license plate numbers. Man, it was too fun! Haha!
Thanks for the update. Not worried about isolated spots only if large sections of trail are wet.
Why? Aren't the sections that are still wet the trouble spots? So to ride in this condition is only to cause more issues in existing trouble spots?
Correct. They are problem areas that need to be fixed for the long term anyway. Bad grade, poor drainage, etc... Only concerned about large sections of trail being too wet and being ridden on.
Trail started to get sloppy late this afternoon. Drained a few of the trouble spots and hand-sawed a protruding branch about 8" in diameter. There will be a short window of opportunity to ride while frozen in the morning. After that, thaw then rain in the forecast. This Winter is becoming a bummer season for MTB'ing for sure.

Trail is sloppy with several ditch areas holding water due to ruts. This trail should be avoided until 2-3 warm days can take some moisture off the top of these problem areas.

75% dry
20% tacky
5% mud
no trees/debris
Last night on the trail there were many muddy areas. In this case, do yourself a favor and AVOID until at least this afternoon. With the heat and sun today it should hopefully be much better. 95% of the trail was in great shape, the other 5% covered me in mud!
Still very much the same this afternoon. Recent rains seem to have been more than I thought. Didn't ride, but walked a significant part of it. Sun, wind, warmth and vegetation absorption are much needed in those bad areas.
Mark
Trail is good and tacky. Multiple muddy holes that need to get cleared (ruts are holding water). Some holes on quick corners so watch your rear tire it will want to slide out. Plus a couple areas with ever widening trail.

Trail is in outstanding condition, fast and flowey with not one puddle. I'm dying to have another 2-4 miles burned in out there as this is an excellent work week one hour getaway.

All good, minimal mud and slick spots. Low traffic and lots o'green!

Is the extension of the trail done yet? I haven't heard of any trail work days in a really long time.

No it is not done. CR has been put on hold indefinitely until we build Bells Bend as part of our agreement with Metro.
Anyone know if CR area got any significant rainfall earlier today? Kinda of itching to ride and not sure if PWP will be dry or not.

Put in 2 laps today, trail is in great shape. Just a couple muddy spots, otherwise very fast.
Cane Ridge was in good shape yesterday evening. Most of the muddy spots are dried up.
Sorba still has the trail closed but I went out yesterday evening and it was in good shape. Couple of muddy spots in the real low spots, but those seem to be there every time I go there.
As of this morning the trail is in decent shape. If someone wants to meet up out there sometime and work on the areas that have drainage problems let me know.
Shoot QuestionMark a message on the forums (his name is Mark) and see if he has anything planned. He lives close there and is a big part of Sorba locally. He would be the best resource for that trail. If you get something setup let everyone else know and myself and others might be able to come out and help knock it out.
Headed out of town for the long weekend. Maybe try to cleanup a bit after work one day next week.

The trail was in the best condition I've seen it in since I started riding over there about a month ago.
Tacky trail. No mud on my tires, however a few mud holes. One is on the first right hand turn before the first bridge. There is a tree across the trail just close to the end of the trail. I would say leave it but this is a beginners trail.

Build some jhumps while you are out there man!
I think they are on the new section out there. Maybe mini jhumps. SORBA just has to finish bells bend first.

Thanks to the individual that got the tree off the trail. Slick in the corners should dry out soon. Still those few mud holes. I got some of the vines that were getting a little low. Helmet checkers.

Rode out there Sunday and it was righteous fast and fun! Thanks to Bob,Daryll,Dave B, and all the other volunteers who made it happen!
Tonight the trail was in great shape with nothing growing into the trail. I only recall a couple of the low spots that were wet.

Cane Ridge phase 2.1 (additional 2.4 miles) is ready to ride. More features will continue to be developed as we burn in the ride line. Go out and enjoy, but know that we are still fine tuning. If anyone has any suggestions let us know and we will try to incorporate them into the trail.
so if all of phase 2 isn't open yet, why wouldn't this be phase 1.5? calling it phase 2.1 implies that phase 2 was completed and then some minor enhancements were done to it.

Maybe phase 2 part 1 is better? Then we can have a phase 2 part deux when the other half is finished.
Stephen is just yanking your chain. He totally wins when you get defensive. Don't fall into the trap! I'm bummed I was not alerted to the trail work efforts. Was community input not desired or what happened there? What good is input when the trail is already made?

The trail line had already been defined and for the most part built minus a few hundred feet from the previous big work days. The input is for additions like rollers, berms, skinnys and other fun things that can be added in with dirt and/or wood. There is not as much relief as phase 1 so adding more fun elements to the trail will help it not be some much of a cross country spin fest.
Phase 2 part deux will have more rollers and some other fun elements as part of the trail building process due to the terrain the second phase is laid out across.

Tim, I am sorry you weren't included. We had to keep these last work days on the down low due to the politics with Metro. These last days where done mostly during the week, with the board volunteering do go out after work or taking days off from their normal jobs to get the trail open for everyone to enjoy.

I have ridden the new section and it is awesome! Only got in 1 quick lap, as the sun was setting, but this elevates Cane Ridge quite a bit. My favorite part, again, after one lap, was what I dubbed the "toilet bowl" aka a banked, 90+ degree-ish turn, with a deep hole in the center of the bowl- like turn. This is such a welcome addition! I see the names on the map, yellow jacket and bone yard, so its not just one loop? Are the 2 sections rated differently? Or just naming the particular section? Just curious, as I consider Cane Ridge my home track, and am very excited!
I also find the blue section on the map slightly confusing. The yellow loop should still be closed, with blue only leading off to the red loop. Blue going all the way to trail head is throwing me off, when I perceive it as a connector. Just throwing it out there.
