I have a lift assisted help with my riding to the top of a mountain. I call the lift, MY LEGS and keep peddling. Beech Mountain is up there. I rode Three Peaks monster cyclecross race there last September and remember going under the chair lifts. I think there was 10,000 feet of climbing in 51 miles. Beautiful area. Have fun.

Just a little levity on my part. I am sure he is correct about having a downhill bike. I will take XC riding because I am downhill challenged. I've gotten a lot better but I am more careful than most.

No real need to erase that post. It was informative and sadly many of us here have not had the pleasure of riding a true downhill bike.

Like Greg said, I took no offense at your post and wish you'd have left it up and explained the bike difference. Are you comparing it to other 26 inch bikes and how does it compare to riding a 29er downhill? Would you ever go to a 29er downhill bike? I am a challenged descender. At, going on 58 years old, I usually know my limitations.

It is fun to tweak SuperMoto and stir the pot! But after Robert basically called him lame for getting a ride up hill, SM came back with his riding history. Just saying!

That being said, if any XCer got on a stiff, long travel bike with slack head angle, and rode it down hill, it is not like riding an XC bike downhill. I think what happens is XCers picture doing that DH/FR stuff on a XC bike which (even though that is how it used to be done) would be pretty challenging.

Defensive and sensitive! Bro! Lighten up man! You called me a hypocrite in a post and I didn't see you get too mad at yourself. I didn't hate you for it! Why did you take your stuff down? Don't let Robert get to you. He doesn't even eat meat or use Facebook!

That just made this thread lame. Put your Beech Mountain stuff back.

I agree with Uzzi the Beach mountain conversation was good - I still do not know why you took it down?

I wasn't calling lift assisted riding lame. I just said I use my legs. If someone told me they would rather take the lift than ride up and make fun of me riding up the hill, I wouldn't give a rat's behind. I like SM's posts. I will do better in the future of having fun with his posts. Now, put the darn thing back up and start explaining the differences, in bikes, I asked you about. Also, take most of the posts, that tease with a grain of salt. You should've fired back at me with something good instead of bailing. I would've said touche. And, if you will notice, at the end of my post, I told you to have fun and I meant it. I wish I could ride downhill like you and your partners do. No way I ever will and I know it. Now I will eat my meatless meal and not look at FB because I don't use it.

I think there is also a downhill trail at Carter's Lake near Ellijay, GA. Here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVyzhRMAljI

From my understanding the Sea Otter is a notoriously "pedally" downhill course. Typically raced and won on single crown forks.

    Lift assisted riding

I'm sure everyone is familiar with perfect north slopes. I heard a rumor they will be open to mtn bikes this year, anyone know about this? I can't find any information
