    dirty south

    Howdy-

Still a few weeks away, but I am moving to Nashville (Mt. Juliet temporarily at first) from Portland, Oregon.
I was curious, how is the fall & winter out here for riding? Sticky mud fest, or do things stay relatively dry / drain quickly?

My riding style is anything and everything I suppose. I dig it all. I have a do-it-all bike for now, but may downsize it to something with bigger wheels and less suspension.

Anyone puttin' around on SS's or fatbikes?
Is there much of a cross/gravel scene out here?

    Any input would be great.
Hope to see some of you dudes out on the trails towards the end of the month.

    Hey Dangband,
welcome. most of our trails are good for SS and we do have some great gravel about an hour west in Hickman county, but most everything in the 5 county area around Nashville is paved. Some good trails and two in the midst of construction right now.

our local advocacy and volunteer group is part of IMBA and we have some great trails and chapters throughout the south.

If you're in town on the 20th, we are having a social at MOAB bikes in Franklin. if you do the facebook thang, we have an event posted, but will post here on the forum too, tonight. LINK
shout if you have questions or resources. lots of good folks on this forum.
    Darryl

Welcome to the site. And to the area. We've got quite a few SS'ers in the area. I haven't seen any fatbikes.

As far as fall conditions, they're usually premium. Best riding of the year, in my opinion. Winter, what you have to watch out for here is the freeze/thaw. That'll turn things sloppy with a quickness. Otherwise, it's just a matter of when it rains, where you're looking at riding, and how well that area drains. Some places around here drain quickly, others seem to stay wet all winter. The trail conditions threads here seem to keep up pretty well, and you'll sort out which places are which pretty quickly.

I was excited yesterday that one of the places we're working on here got rained on once Sunday morning and once Sunday night, and was in great shape yesterday morning. Stay tuned on that project!

After a bit of a moving delay, I got into town about 12 days ago; finally got a chance to get out on the bike and hit up Lock4 yesterday. Fun, fast trail to say the least! Came across quite a few peeps out on the trail, all very nice friendly folks. Conditions of the trail seemed most excellent too.

If you happened to see someone on a big bad Yeti, that was me.

I plan on hitting up some Shutes Branch today.

Welcome to the site. Stupid rule where you need 5 post count to reply in some forums which is the reason for this post. Welcome anyway.

The rule is to prevent (or lessen) spam and promote use of the board for more than just selling.

I understand. Good reason to. I should not have come across like that but was pissed at the time when I wanted to respond to a seller and couldn't. Thanks.
