    Gravel Love-Potion #40 & known gravel trails

Does anyone know the route for the Sorba gravel ride? With the trails closed often in the winter, I am considering a gravel ride. Please post any gravel segments that are known and are good. Anything but asphalt!

    Thanks!

    Gravel Love-Potion #40 & known gravel trails

Hickman county has at least 200 miles of gravel roads. Endless route options but here's a 40 mile route I follow sometimes.

If anyone, who is going, wants to ride more, I will be there and ready to ride by 9 or 10 and maybe do about 25 to 35 before the official ride. A two hour round trip, for me, warrants more than 40 miles.

Thanks Robert, I hope you get some takers. I will add, that is anyone wants to ride less than 40 miles, there is a 26 mile option that has been added to the itinerary. http://sorbamidtn.org/2013/12/gravel-love-potion-40/

Just wondering if the route maps is going to be posted at any time. Would love to know where they are going to take us. Might even pre-ride it. Nah.

Here's the route from the high school. It'll be a little longer from the actual start location. http://app.strava.com/activities/105955880

So I am kinda interested in this deal but really have no guess on how hard 26 or 40 on a gravel road is... does the 40 mile loop go near the end of the 26 miler but keep going? Or maybe a better question is if I try for 40 but need to stop at 26 will it be easy to do?

    Thanks

I am not an expert on this area but I have ridden in this area a few times. Not sure what the 26 mile route is. On the 40, imho, everything is very rideable and nothing to steep with the exception of the climb up Ben Fly road. It is a toughie.

At the end of mount pleasant cemetery rd the 26 mile route will go right on primm springs instead of left. You should know by that point how much you have in the tank. If you choose to go left for the 40 there will be one cat4 asphalt road climb then a fun rolling rough dirt road called Tyler ridge followed by a little rolling asphalt then turkey farm rd(dirt with one easy climb)then back to primm springs to make your way over to Ben Fly which is by far the hardest climb and your gonna hit it on either route.

I don't know how many of you came out for the event, but it was very well attended. We had 140 pre-register, and another 75 sign up on the day of the event. It was pretty awesome. I did not ride, due to a knee problem, but I heard from many that they enjoyed the ride, but found it challenging. Ride 615 provided the food. Thank you for that!. And Eastside Cycles provided snacks and manned the rest stop. Thank you guys for that. Oskar Blues donated beer for after the ride. Johnny Crow provided his family farm property for the event. Swiftwick Socks donated swag. Thank you. When I left, the sun was sinking low, and about 20 hardy folks were huddled around a big fire. I saw a half gallon of whiskey being passed around. Hey, you have to stay warm somehow, right?
