Tennessee HS Cycling League 2014 Season about to start

The Tennessee HS Cycling League, a NICA league, has its first race next weekend at AEDC.

    For more info: www.tennesseemtb.org
there is a list of school teams on a Google map. Independent riders can participate also.

Next year there will be a middle school division.

I have started a new team at Mt Juliet HS. For more info: www.bearsmtb.blogspot.com We currently have 5 riders, 1 freshman, 2 juniors (JV) and 2 seniors (Varsity). Shoot me a PM if you know of any riders at MJHS that might be interested.

The races last year were a blast. It was really awesome seeing 50+ high school riders at an event. Even had a wet race at Lock 4.

Little Caveman - 2010 Voodoo Hoodoo 26'er - Steel is Still Real / custom build

…but on Voyage 34, he finally met himself coming down an up-staircase, and the encounter was crushing (Porcupine Tree).

Steve: Thanks so much for getting this going at your son's school. I think this is a wonderful new aspect of our sport. Will get so many more people into the sport at an age that many will continue for a lifetime.

I have a friend here in my office that has a son at Oakland, in Smyrna. His son is on their team and really loving it. Still pretty much a beginner rider, and in awe of those that are so experienced and fast. He wants a better bike. Like I say, just what our sport needs.

In this day and age of more and more couch potatoes playing computer games, I love to see something like this encouraging kids that might not be interested in conventional team sports, but like the speed and fun of mtb. All the while, they get more fit.

My office friend's son's team is still near the bottom of the pack. But he is gaining some experience, and getting faster. In the last race, he was the fastest of his 4 men teammates at Lock 4 race. That is mud conditions, with lots of falls. This race was a huge confidence booster to this near newbie rider. His dad still rides an old Gary Fisher that is heavy steel. but he bought a new 29er for his son. Now, the dad wants a faster bike too. Did I say that this program was great for our sport?

Just in case peeps haven't seen the post, come out to Defeated in the morning. Work a little, ride a little. We'll be getting there at/around 9, cut back and weed-eat for an hour or so then do some climbing and zooming
