Trails that are open when it's frozen

Didn't know where to ask, so I started a new thread. I'm just looking for any trail that might be open when it's below freezing. I will be getting sick of riding the roads/greenway.

As long as you ride early while everything is still actually frozen, and it's frozen solid, pretty much anywhere should be open. The problem is when the sun gets on it and it starts to thaw and turn sloppy.

Sure wish he had some trail workdays during this time of year so we could move forward on these trail projects!

The only real problem with workdays this time of year is frozen ground makes hand tools nearly useless. That's solved by breaking anything you need dirt wise with a machine, which SORBA has. So it should be all systems go to get some trail built. I think the real problem is full schedules for the people that make this sort of thing happen.

Since it will be cold on Wednesday. I was hoping to do a Polar Bear ride at Percy. What are the chances it will be cold enough to ride?

Well, chances are good, but I'm not the go/no-go man on that. Thursday it will for sure be cold enough in the morning. I mean, if you can stand single digits.

It is not going to be above freezing today and the temps will be dropping. Cross your fingers. If it is open, my Fat boy is gonna get ridden.

It's just an innocent way to show us how to warm up after a cold ride on a frozen trail.

Trail was frozen solid. Loved having the fat tires on it. Rode about 1.5 hours. If the wind wasn't a factor, it wasn't bad. I only felt the cold on my face. Hopefully it will stay frozen tomorrow but I doubt it with the sunshine that is expected and needed.

To Uzzi's point about workdays we are having some during the winter and early spring but they will mainly be clearing and have little finish work. With the amount of rain we get plus freeze thaw any finish work you do will probably have to be redone later in the spring. The fresh dirt wont be nearly packed enough before it either gets too wet and starts to erode when it rains or freezes at which point it cant really be packed down.

As far as riding while frozen if the trails are not physically closed go for it.
