    Exclamation Garmin Owners Please Read...

Hey first off - not to scare anyone I love my 305 and hate to be without it but wanted to pass out a warning so this does not happen to you.

For the 12 hours of stank I charged up my "unit" the night before, it had half battery and I left it plugged until I went to bed, got up never touched it, went to 10 minutes prior to start and hit the power button and the sucker would come up then turn immediately off.

I was told at the race that it was overcharged so I did it sans computer (which sucked for me 1) I wanted to record it, 2) I do use the HR monitor to stay in certain ranges depending on my goals.. now.. I get home and plug it in and in 10 minutes I can fire the unit up.. so I asked Garmin and they said if left on the charger to long the unit will power itself up and drain itself to 0 as protection. I was set back from the e-mail and even called them they say it is a "protection circuit".. so if you are planning a big ride and want it to be charged do not leave it on to long and always check before you head out.. the CS e-mail is below..

Once again not slamming Garmin love the thing just letting you all know..

    Dear Chris ,

Thank you for contacting Garmin International.

I'd be happy to help you with your 305 questions. I'm guessing this is an Edge 305 since it wasn't indicated which exact 305 was being used.
When you took the unit off of the charger did you notice if it said the charge was complete or in progress? If a unit is left on a charger too long after it says battery charge complete the unit can power itself on then discharge the battery and need to be charged again. Are you charging the unit using the USB cable or the AC charger? We recommend the AC charger as you'll get a better charge.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can assist you with.

    With Best Regards,

This used to happen to me all the time before I cracked mine. You just have to reset it and charge it more. If you go to Garmin's website it tells you what to do. I think you plug it into the charger and then hit the mode and reset buttons at the same time until the screen displays that it is charging again. Then you let it charge for another 20 minutes or so and you're golden.

    Good Luck.
