Where's the new stuff? Didn't even notice (and don't remember the big rock, either, lol). Maybe a section number or something out of curiosity?

The new trail breaks off to the right part way down the long downhill on BLT 8.

The big rock (Mexico Rock) used to have "MOJO MEXICO" or something like that spray painted on it. It is at one of those spots where two trails nearly intersect, so you pass it twice - once on the left on 6 and again on the right at the beginning of 9.

Trail was dry and creepy this afternoon. 6 cars. 3 cars were reverse parkers with black windows. 3 had bike racks. There must be something we can do about this before it gets out of control.

Horses on trail at Lock 4 today! I did not encounter the equestrians on the trail, but another rider who did said they were adamant they had the right to ride their horses on the trail. Another rider called the police to report it, but said they seemed indifferent on the phone and didn't seem to know if horses were allowed out there or not. I've ridden out there a LONG time and have never seen horses, and I suspect most other mountain bikers would not anticipate running into them either (literally or figuratively). For those who know the contact at Gallatin parks, may be worth a discussion of posting what the rule is at the trail head before there is a bigger problem. If they're allowed, I'll have my guard up. If they're not, let's have a posted sign to point them to. In the meantime, if you see a horse trailer out there, be wary.

But how did they fare on west side floater? I separated my shoulder there one time.

I don't see how it would be much fun. No way the trail is trimmed for the height of a rider on a horse.

Trail's in good shape. Slick roots at lunchtime. Tree down at the log-over before the Moguls on #2. Have to take the bypass.

Trekkona, you must have cleaned up the dead tree "The Tunnel" on 2 also. Thank you! That was a knuckle buster.

    Trail is excellent this morning.

Note: Digging up roots because you can't skill yourself over - not cool. Pick another line or work on your skills. Don't tear up the trail.
This is not related to the excellent cleanup efforts to rid fallen trees. Someone dug up some roots on 16 in the middle of the trail.

Yeah I purposefully looked for the "dug up" roots and didn't see them either. Trail is in great shape though. A little sneaky slick in spots due to the leaf cover and damp trail underneath.

Surprising good condition, today at lunchtime! Only one small puddle and lots of leaves. Go for it!

Bringing some new riders from Clarksville this afternoon. If anyone wants some casual riding, we'll be there around 2. Good to hear the trails are drying out nicely.

Bummer, but I don't mind some police presence out there. If they come out more often, maybe they'll scare off some of the riff-raff.

Trails on the East side are closed for Police/SWAT training. They are having a paintball war. I say let us ride in full length gear and googles. that will add a whole new dimension to a lap! Spice it up a little especially if we can carry as well.

Yeah - I went out there about 1:45 and saw the signs. Could have ridden west side but chose not to.

Is the trail closing for police training a new thing or have they always done it? It's a new one on me.
Is it just closed today? I have the next two days off.

Had an insane amount of fun ripping around Lock 4 on the SS yesterday. As ever, the trail was in great shape, so mad props to the folks out there trimming and mowing and keeping things up. Also saw a guy out there with his kids picking up trash. I thanked them as I flew by, but in case he happens to be on here: I think what you were doing was awesome, and I was glad to see your helpers helping - I think a large part of what some people don't understand about trails is that they are a treasure to be appreciated, but the cost is some work to keep them up. Thanks for teaching the next generation to appreciate what's there.

The trail is good but watch out for the slime under the leaves. Very slick. The areas with little leaf cover are primo especially near the lake sides where the wind can get to the trail.

Rode the entire trail this afternoon around 3:00 and it is in great shape. There were a few soft spots bit nothing really slick. The only issue was running into two different pairs of riders who were riding the trail in the wrong direction. Go get some.

It was fine, mostly. West side had a few places that were sketchy/soft, east side just a couple of slick turns.

We had a fun late ride. Saw a 6-8 point buck. And about 96 does and babies. Trail is in great shape - go get some before the rain Saturday.

Rode today before the rain. The trail is a mess with lots of debris, large limbs and a tree down that will need a chainsaw.

Kdub rode today and called it a 70. Not muddy. One tree down, about mile 6 on BLT 11. Plenty of debris.

Probably be OK if the weather cooperates.
